Luke Ganje - News
Following a 9 hour work day of editing, the first part of my Apocalypse duology has been re-titled, the final edit has been completed, and it's ready for submissions to begin anew.
451 pages. 132,000 words. Be ready for some spectacular reading!
Well, shady internet followers! I have one word for you! Well...2 words...but 1 general meaning.
Kindle Singles.
And with those words comes the desire for me to pursue publishing an essay or two with their help. I figure at the least, it'll get my name out there in a cost-effective way. So check out my blog for more info, and I'll be sure to keep you posted on further developments!
It's a new year (2012 for those that don't know), so you know what that means!
Time for a Resolution! Now...I've made 3, but 2 are personal. So I'll clue you in to the more important third, as it's directly relevant to this site.
The Man Commandments in all their glory, will have a completed manuscript by no later than the middle of February!
And if that isn't enough to get a person excited, I don't know what is!
It's Christmas Eve, folks. So really, I should be asking what in the world you're doing wasting your time on the internet. But I will keep my rapier-wit sheathed in honor of the season.
No writing news today, and I will be going on a hiatus until the 1st of the New Year so as to spend adequate time with friends and family. Be sure you do the same. The Christmas season (whether you believe in the source material or not) is time best spent with those you love. It's what I'll be doing. I suggest you do the same.
Merry Christmas, all. The end of the year is closing in on us and I'm so thankful to have you all paying me some much needed attention. Thank you!
Well yes indeed, there is interesting news in the form of The Man Commandments! So after much deliberation (and writing) I have mapped them out into a new format that is absolutely first rate.
No longer will they be random. Rather, they will sectionalized in groups of 10. The goal? To have, at end, about 30 Commandments (don't get mad at me, it's your guys' fault that I write these!). That will be the main focus at the beginning of the New Year, with a goal of February completion!
So keep your eyes peeled. I'll post updates as I near completion!
Well I said writing news was imminent, so here it is: With the completion of the 13th Man Commandment, we are officially 3/4 of the way through that project. As well as beginning a completely secret project called "The Last Eulogy", and it's one that I believe could have legs in the publishing industry!
Unfortunately, I'll be leery for a little time yet disclosing the plot to you until I get a little bit more written, just to stave off the leeches of the world. But I guarantee you, I believe this is one that you may be intrigued by so stay tuned!
Writing news is imminent! (And by "imminent" I mean, I will tell you now as it's not really that important!)
First off, NanoWrimo is looking like a longshot as of right now. The novel I'm running with is a great idea, but it's great enought that I'm taking my time with it a bit. All in all it wasn't the effect I was going for, but if a good novel still comes of it I will be happy!
And also of note, The Man Commandments (addressed in my most recent blog) will be getting more attention, to the tune of finishing that manuscript within the next couple months. Why? Well, there's been a fair bit of interest lately so I plan on striking while the iron is hot!
So it has come to my attention that the "News" page has become quite stagnant. This is for one obvious reason. I am an unpublished author, and as such I really don't have countless updates. This is depressing yet part of the journey, so I've put off doing the news thing until some writing stuff crops up.
First off, my first novel (The Apocalypse Key) will be getting a new title that is as of yet for my eyes only. As well as a potential self-publishing venture in the summer of 2012!
I'm writing a special "Halloween-themed" short in honor of my favorite holiday. If it turns out well I'll upload it here shortly!
And lastly at last counting: Between my novels, poetry, and short fiction I have 23 active projects. Unfortunately this means some will be scaled back, but rest assured, I'll be staying hard at work throughout the holidays!
Keep spreading the word, guys! I'm not dead yet!
Well, I have some good news in terms of the creation front! My "eventual self-publishing" project got a big boost with the completion of my newest short story, Celestial Incompletion. It's by far the deepest piece I've written, despite being only 1000 words long.
Celestial deals with the concept of one's nature in brief detail, hopefully conveying the proper message to the open-minded reader. All in all, it's a work I'm quite proud of. With luck and some tech wizardry, it's something I'll be able to share with you all soon!
Alas, news on the writing front is sorely lacking. Writing is putting along, but success on the submission front is seemingly and endless (and tiring) road. I will, of course, keep going. But in the meantime, feel free to shamelessly promote me to any of your friends.
That was dark humor. I'm not depressed. Merely deprived of the smiley-faced emoticons that would surely pollute my wordy and professional website!
In the meantime, to keep you all busy, I've dropped some quick mini-reviews and recommendations on movies in my Blog! So if you're looking for something to peak your interest, feel free to give it a look!
As of today, there are two new submissions out, and I have 3 new short stories I'll be starting work on this week! I know, this may count as a slow news day, but I'm thrilled with it.
The stories? One is a darkly humorous tale of a struggling actor, one a horror short that's dialogue centered on a man struggling to save his soul in a deal with the devil, and lastly a rumination of identity featuring a rather large public figure.
Am I leaving you with a cliffhanger? Absolutely! So stay tuned. You never know when something will crop up!
The main issue of note today is that the site has made it's biggest strides yet, making it to 180 views this month! I can't even begin to say how thrilling that is. It's continuing it's slow climb, but each month is still surpassing the last. And for that, I am happy.
So thank you all for continuing to check in, even though my writings and entries are (at times) few and far between. I intend to put up a new sample in the next month or so, it's just a matter of getting the free time away from Editing which continues to be a pain.
The fact remains though, that I'm thrilled that my site is still attracting visitors and perhaps in time someone of note will stumble across it. In the meantime, I promise to do my best to keep things interesting for you all!
Dear God. 170 pages. 240 left to go.
Edits are moving as quickly as they can and taking up a good deal of my creative energy. Submissions start next week. And plans are to finish edits before the month is out.
Ladies and gentlemen, editing and re-reading your stuff for the 10th time is NOT FUN!
As of today, the final edit of "The Apocalypse Key" is close to 1/3 done. And upon its completion, I'll be sending out submissions to agents and PYR publishing. Work's been slow of late due to this edit which is much more extensive than the grammar edits of before. But there is an end in sight!
It's been a long road and frustrating, as I truly want to write the sequel. But some things have to be done, and sections had to be turned from "This is crap!" To "Okay...this works!". So I'll keep you posted on progress, and maybe we'll get some good news before the year is out!
Well folks, I promised an update concerning my newest short story out on submission, and to be honest one of the reasons I held off updating the site was due to the fact that I was hoping to spread some good news.
Sadly, this time around, that is not the case as I was rejected by Pill Hill Press and my character Arthur Delvalen still has yet to find a home. Am I a bit let down? Yes, as the initial word was that they were interested. But, I'm not about to let it knock me in a rut. This is the nature of publishing, and I can accept it.
On the upside, I have 7 new short stories outlined and am halfway through my edit of "The Apocalypse Key", so life is still putting along. Will it amount to something? Absolutely. But it may take time. So stick with me, guys! It'll be worth it in the long run.
Hello folks! Not much news on the writing front, but! I happen to have a pretty cool tidbit for those wondering how this site is fairing in the grand scheme of things.
As I've stated before, my views have steadily gone up each month since the initial boom of it's big-bang-creation. And today we officially broke the triple-digit plane for the first time! I realize that may not sound like much, but it definitely made my day.
Word back from Pill Hill Press has yet to reach me, and I'm steadily going through an extensive edit of my first book so...news is kind of low-key. There is, however, a new blog post up that you can take a peek at. You never know, something exciting may happen in the meantime!
Hey, I can be unrealistic sometimes. I'm a writer. I thrive on delusion.
As many of you have noticed, there's a significant change to my homepage! One of my favorite fantasy authors, Eldon Thompson, recently gave me a blurb to add to the site and I'm proud to finally have it up.
Eldon's a great guy and a writer who's always been willing to give me advice on writing when I needed it most, and now he's added a new legitimacy to a beginner's webpage. You really can't say enough about the guy! Look him up! He's a great writer as well!
In writing news, I'm still waiting on word back from Pill Hill Press about whether or not my short will be accepted for their anthology. But as soon as I find out, you guys will be the first to know!
There's not too much to be said on the writing front, as work is still ongoing! I'm starting to put together the short stories I've been working on for the past few weeks, a few of which I think should turn out pretty well!
In other news, my site here made it to 95 hits this past June, topping the highest amount since it's debut in April. Granted, 95 isn't an especially huge number by any means, but for an unknown author? And a "hits" number that is increasing every month? I'm pretty excited!
So thank you all for the support and the visits! And by all means, keep it up! Look for a new blog tomorrow!
It just so happens that I have some relevant news for you all today! I recently submitted a short story of mine to a horror anthology and they're currently considering it for publication.
The short in question is "The Writing on the Walls" which can be found in my samples. It's a piece that holds a special spot in my heart as it was the first short I'd ever written, so it'd be quite the thrill if I was met with success. It's a big anthology so the odds are long, but be sure to cross your fingers for me!
I'll be sure to keep you posted, in the meantime I have 5 new short outlines so keep an eye out for a new sample being posted soon!
Attention loyal readers (who may or may not exist)!
I have, at long last, posted a new poem in the Writing Samples section. It's my newest poetic work and also my most inflammatory. So be sure to take a look before I am assassinated.
Alright. Technically that MIGHT not happen, but you get the point! Take a look and let me hear your thoughts!
What's new? Bismarck's flooding! My home is being turned into Atlantis and there's no crazy dude with an Ark. I'm gonna panic because I don't like water.
In other news! I wrote a new poem that takes me into new territory as VERY opinionated in my writings, and as soon as I figure out how to post the darn thing you will all be able to give it a read!
Also, a new novella is underway, one concerning a wrongly-convicted man on Death Row. It'll be dark, but I'm expecting great things from it. So stay tuned for updates! I'm looking to expand my photos and samples section soon.
Attention world! There is an urgent message!
As of today, I am officially 22 years of age! This is a rather meaningless milestone, but I am happy nonetheless. I want to thank all of my family for making me into the person I am today.
Please don't hold it against them. They had good intentions at heart.
Sorry folks, no writing news today! BUT! It is Mother's Day, so don't forget to give your mom a hug before the day is out. She deserves it more than anybody!
So to all the mothers out there, especially mine, Happy Mother's Day!
Attention, Loyal Readers! I am not dead! Yet!
That being said, I am in the midst of a creative quagmire. An inspirational firestorm. A depressed mental state! Wait...that last part isn't right. Ignore that.
In better news, a new blog is up full of all the excuses I am prepared to use if anyone questions my disappearance. Read them. They will blow your mind.
For all those interested in the news on the writing front: I've written 2 new poems, have started a new story about a man on death row, and am continuing work on my Apocalypse sequel. Life has been busy and I will do my best to keep working and keep you all informed! Thanks for keeping tabs. In the meantime, I will go write.
There are minds to be blown, after all. I'm serious. People count on me for this stuff.......scary, isn't it?
Late last week I debuted a new poem at a local Open Mic, and I'm happy to say that it was a huge success! So much so that I intend to post it in an upcoming blog, to keep you guys up to date on what I've been working on. Entitled AN ODE TO DROWNING, I believe it to be my best poetic work yet. So stay tuned!
In other news, my plans to self-publish are somewhat on hold as I intend to spur my productivity and quality instead of a monetary goal. It's a difficult choice and one I may have second-thoughts about, but for the time being, that's where we stand! Not the best update, but an update none-the-less!
Great things are on the horizon! I told you I'd have some big news, so here it is! I have been hard at work lately and have put the finishing touches on the first 4 chapters of THE LOCK OF FAITH, my officially titled sequel (and conclusion) to my first novel THE APOCALYPSE KEY.
You may be thinking "Wow. 4 Chapters. Whoop-dee-Damn-doo." But I've been in a bit of a creative stalemate recently, and it just feels great to finally bust out of it. While its predecessor is an at times humorous tale, LOCK promises to be much darker as the wheels prepare to come off. I mean...it is the Apocalypse, after all!
Within the next week or so, I may just post some sample chapters up! But be wary, those many of you who have not read the first novel, there are potential spoilers!
Hello folks! There's a new blog up and much more is afoot!
I am going to be debuting a few new poems at a local Open Mic on March 31st at Mr. Delicious on 3rd Street! That was a really long sentence, but I digress! If you happen to be free around 9pm on that day, feel free to stop by. I promise to be as entertaining as a crazy person can be!
Aside from that, work on a new novel is going slow but steady as I aim for a Fall 2011 release of my short-story and poetry collection. It's hard to prioritize these things, but I'm doing my best!
So I will allow you to go about your day! Keep checking back as my next blog will be about "To Fly on the Wings of Icarus", my self-publishing venture! As well as a sneak peek into my APOCALYPSE KEY sequel!
There is much work afoot, folks! I'm putting the finishing touches on 2 new poems as well as getting into the swing of things in terms of two novels! I'm not one to brag, but I'm excited. I think I've got something here. So be sure to stay tuned for more detailed news to come in the near future!
There's also a new blog up! So if you feel like a short read in serious tone, hop on over there and check it out!
Well! This is it, folks! Months in planning and brainpower has finally come to fruition in this, the launch of LUKEGANJE.COM! Its snazzy, its eye-popping, and its the home of a genius-in-training! That would be me...So yes. Be ready to have your minds blown! Because I am going to take the literary world by storm.
Starting now.
